I do not know if I am alone in this, as I haven’t voiced it much. But often when I find myself fully present in nature, I am taken by the idea that every living thing has a life all its own. That as I carry along my daily human rituals, a grove of birches lives, in communion with one another, growing, shedding leaves each season, basking in the winter sun, lying in darkness as night falls, weathering storms. That all of nature lives in a secret presence unbeknownst to me, and yet here I am, part of it all.
