Envisioning

Three weeks from now I will be hosting an event that I have been thinking about for the past couple years... My first Open Studio.

Since I first began selling my art, I have had lots of people ask if they could come and visit my space to see my work and tour the place where I create my watercolor paintings. Since my studio is in my home and I don’t have typical posted “gallery” hours, I have just been offering visits by appointment. Until now…

I envisioned setting aside a weekend that was a combination between a studio tour, a solo exhibit and a watercolor demo all in one space. All in the place where my art comes to life.

Over the last couple weeks, I have been doing these little seasonal explorations, painting the way the end of summer into early autumn has felt to me. This week I displayed them all out to decide which ones I would frame and which feel more like stepping stones. I marked which I wanted in wood frames and a few that I’ll frame in gold.

I have also been quietly envisioning how I’ll display my art for you in my porch and indoor studio and throughout the main level of the house. Right now the whole event feels ripe with potential. I have paintings to frame, new greeting card sets to launch, and a home to turn into a gallery to display my work.

I feel jittery nearly every time I think about it, probably because this feels vulnerable and exciting all at once. But I am so excited to share with the people who have loved and supported me and my art.

I have sixteen small works that I will be launching the weekend of the event (10/17, 10/18, and 10/19). These pieces will be available for purchase at my studio during these three days. I will launch the remaining pieces after the event is over. I will also have all of my current shop inventory available for purchase — original art, prints and greeting cards.

If you are planning on attending one or more of the days, please RSVP via my Eventbrite page or my Facebook event page where you’ll also find more info (details, address etc). You can also visit my Exhibits page on my website for more information. An RSVP helps me get an idea of how many of you to expect! The event will span three days — Friday, October 17 from 12pm to 6pm, Saturday, October 18 from 10am to 6pm, and Sunday, October 19 from 10am to 3pm. I can’t wait to see you there. Keep an eye on your inboxes for more details and please feel free to share the invitation with anyone you think might be interested!
