Pause to Rebalance
I have arrived at the pause in my summer.
June and July are always packed now with art fairs and prep, lots of travel and what feels like constant hustle. The end of Blueberry Arts Festival marks the beginning of my small break in the action.
I had a wonderful weekend in Ely spent catching up with lots of regulars and friends. I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Joe of the Paddle and Portage Podcast that aired on WELY-AM Radio and played throughout the weekend. Always fun to chat about my inspiration and my love for the BWCA. I got to be neighbors with my buddy, Steffi of Three Jewels Pottery who is always a delight to be around. Spencer and I joke that we have more friends in Ely than we do anywhere else now and I truly could not be more grateful for that.
Now, I find myself at a pivotal moment in my summer. I have almost three weeks until my next event (Art in Bayfront Park in Duluth) so this is the time I like to focus on rest, creating, and slowing down.
To be honest, though I love chatting with people in my booth and selling my work so much, throughout this entire weekend I was dreaming of painting and rest. I have a bunch of ideas stored in my head and now I actually have the space to sit down and let art feel like therapy again. I often have to remind myself when the summer is busy and flying by that there will be a time where life evens itself out again. It always does. Nature always knows how and when to balance herself and my life is a mere extension of her wisdom and her way.
I have about 6 pieces lined up that are ready for mat and frame, a couple that need some finishing touches, and an imagination full of new ideas — from big open fields, to sailboats, to moonlit lakes and late summer sunsets. Now is my time to take reverent space and bring them to life.
I will be restocking my shop with original work and greeting card sets before my next event so stay tuned for some new releases coming within the next couple weeks!
