A New Season Commences
Happy May from the Katie Bromme Watercolor Studio! I have to say, I feel incredibly grateful to be entering a new season of markets and art fairs with a little bit of experience under my belt.
I’d be lying if I said getting the hang of selling my art in person has been an easy road. A phrase I have started using goes as follows: “If you ever want to challenge your own human experience, just start a business and maintain it for a couple years!” I have learned more about myself, my own emotional wounds, hang-ups, and fears through this process than I had ever thought possible. Most importantly, I found out what I’m made of — grit, tenacity, lots of dreams and a whole lot of magic.
This year marks my fourth season prepping for markets. And, fingers crossed — I feel pretty confident to say this is the first year going in, I actually feel somewhat at ease.
A lot of this ease is due to the fact that I stressed myself out so much the first few years by trying to do everything correctly — only to realize that there isn’t really any “correct” way to do this. Sometimes when the water is cold, it’s better to run to the end of the dock and jump, instead of dipping your toe in a hundred times before deciding to torture yourself by wading in slowly.
What my own obsession with doing this “correctly” or “perfectly” helped me realize is that I actually just want to have fun selling my art. I want making it and showing it to be exciting. I want to meet you all and share what I love with you. So I’m sliding into this season knowing it’s going to be SO GOOD. I can’t wait to show you what I have created and I can’t wait see you all this summer!
This is also my roundabout way of telling you… my June through September event lineup is UP on my website! You can check out where to find me each month here!
